Funded by United Way of King County, Parent-Child is a national home visiting program that works with low-income King County families with children 2-4 years old to increase school readiness. The program is a research-based early literacy program with proven success; results have shown that participation increases high school graduation rates to those of higher-income students as well as builds the “protective factors” in families that are shown to reduce the incidence of abuse.
Parents meet with home visitors twice a week for thirty minutes over a two-year time period and bring gifts of toys and educational books. Home visitors coach parents by modeling behaviors that stimulate early learning. Best of all, the program is completely free.
We are currently recruiting parents for this program. If interested, please call 1-855-972-4663.
