Children's Home Society of Washington (CHSW) is pleased to announce the completion of a successful pilot program in partnership with Sherwood Trust, Walla Walla's largest private foundation. Donald and Virginia Sherwood have been generous supporters of CHSW, administering over $500,000 from the Sherwood Trust throughout the years.
In 2008, Sherwood Trust provided CHSW with a $240,000 grant that funded a Development Officer position to lead fundraising efforts to build capacity and serve even more children and families in the Walla Walla region. Three years later, all of the fund-raising targets have been met or exceeded. CHSW seeks to expand this project and leverage the knowledge and success gained in Walla Walla to support expansion of other statewide communities served by CHSW.
"The Children's Home Society of Washington is a model example of the importance of planning for the future in a strategic and thoughtful manner. Its success is no accident," states Jock Edwards of Sherwood Trust. "The patience, perseverance, and focus of the organization on developing and implementing a strategic planning process is exemplary."
