Children’s Home Society of Washington is the state’s oldest statewide, private, not-for-profit organization serving children and families. Our mission is to develop healthy children, create strong families, build engaged communities, and to speak and advocate for children. Each year, the Society serves thousands of children and parents across Washington through a variety of programs.
We are seeking an individual to join CHSW who believes in its mission and is passionate about the services we provide to our consumers. The person must be eager to call into play his/her skills to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
The Marketing Communications Department is seeking a Graphic Design intern for the Fall 2011 and Winter 2012 semesters/quarters (start and end dates are flexible). This unpaid internship offers a unique opportunity for an individual with interests in graphic design in a non-profit setting.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- With direction from the Design Manager, produce a variety of print materials such as fliers, brochures, posters, ads adhering to CHSW branding standards
- Updating existing fliers, forms, and other CHSW collateral
- Work directly with project managers, update project status
- Produce final files to send to vendors
- Call vendors for print bids
- Track progress on multiple projects
- Various and less glorious tasks related to large projects
- Opportunities to participate in team marketing meetings

- Undergraduate student, Junior/Senior preferred
- Thorough understanding of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Video editing experience would be great but not required
- Basic web experience would be helpful but not required
- Proofreading skills are helpful
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and remain organized
- Comfortable interacting with the public on the phone
- Ability to be proactive and work independently
- Outgoing, friendly, and approachable, and demonstrate the highest level of customer service to CHSW statewide staff
- Ability to stay on top of providing regular status updates on projects as progress/updates occur
- Maintain the highest attention to detail
